Galveston Combat Veteran and Attorney Announces Campaign for State Representative in Texas HD-23

GALVESTON, TX: Galveston Attorney Patrick Gurski announced his campaign today for State Representative in HD-23 after Representative Mayes Middleton announced he is running for State Senate in SD-11. Gurski is a former Chief of Staff to Representative Dwayne Bohac from Houston, Texas Army National Guard Afghanistan Veteran, and former Senior Prosecutor with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.

In his announcement, Gurski said, “The citizens of Chambers and Galveston County need a proven conservative who will fight to protect the life of the unborn, secure our border, defend our law enforcement officers, deliver real property tax and appraisal reform and stop the out-of-control Biden-Harris socialist agenda, including Critical Race Theory (CRT), from taking hold in Texas.” Gurski went on to say, “I also stand ready to fight for our important local issues such as storm surge protection, controlling TWIA rate hikes and supporting the key sectors of our economy (ports, petrochemical, fishery, medical and tourism).”

After graduating from Lamar University in 2004, he went on to work in the Texas Legislature for Conservative Republican State Representative Dwayne Bohac serving as his Chief of Staff in the 79th and 80th Legislative Sessions. While attending law school at South Texas College of Law, Gurski was mobilized and deployed with the Texas Army National Guard to Afghanistan where he served as an advisor with the Afghanistan Uniformed Police and earned a Bronze Star Medal for his wartime service. After passing the bar, Gurski went on to work for the Victoria County District Attorney’s Office and later went on to work as a Senior Assistant Prosecutor in the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office handling felony cases while overseeing the office’s Human Trafficking unit. Gurski now works as an attorney at Eiland & Bonnin, P.C. in Galveston where he focuses primarily on criminal law and contract cases. He serves as a defense attorney representing veterans in the Galveston County Veterans Treatment Court program and is a member of the Galveston Rotary Club.

Patrick Gurski was born and raised in Beaumont, TX. His father is a retired Beaumont Police Officer and his mother is a retired school teacher. He lives in Galveston with is wife, Erin, who is a UTMB Nurse Practitioner, and their two young children, Amelia (3 years), and Patrick Henry (6 months).
